Winners were recently announced for the 24th annual Bay Days Juried Exhibition at the Charles H. Taylor Arts Center in Hampton. This annual competition attracts artists and craftsmen from across Virginia, showing works in a variety of media including drawing, watercolor, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and crafts. Awards presented were: •$1,000 Best in Show: Bernard Conda, “Self Portrait” •$1,000 Hampton Arts Commission Award: Julia E. Pfaff, “Venus and the Dress Form” $750 Award of Excellence: Travis Fullerton, “Covered Parking” • $500 Juror’s Choice Award: John Matney, “Honey suckle Road” • $500 Mayor’s Award: Christi Harris, “Eyelet Rose” • $500 Realist Painting Award: Charles Franklin Bryan, “Adam’s First Gaze I” • $100 Award of Distinction for Drawing: Lee Gerry Wertheimer, “Another View of the Road” • $100 Award of Distinction for Oil or Acrylic: Jennifer Cox, “Resting Place of the Goddess: Lianas” • $100 Award of Distinction for Photography: Erin Grey Kemplin Tischbein, “Preston” • $100 Award of Distinction for Printmaking: Jonathan Cole, “Spray Cans United” • $100 Award of Distinction for Three Dimensional Art: Matthew Fine, “The Deep” • $100 Award of Distinction for Watercolor: Reineke Leenders, “Jing Jing — China”
